Look for a receipt. This has become a bit of an issue at campy lately. OR talk to the shop where you bought it and they can issue one.
This should probably be a warranty. It's hard to say for sure without all the facts but it it highly likely. Worst case senario, you can by a new cage. The part number is FD-RE001 for 2003-2006 and FD-RE015 for 2007 (unless it's a CT der then I'd have to check).
