I go for the full size frame pump. No real drawbacks... unlimited FREE air (unless you're milhbach), with unlimited being important sometimes (multiple flats & slow leaks). The weight issue comes down to grams .... I use a Blackburn (replaced my 20 year old Zefal) and I've been happy with both pumps. Speed has never been an issue for me, because in a race either you get a spare wheel, or a ride in the sag wagon. As for training rides with a group, most of the time spent is mounting & dismounting the tire & tube .... the actual pumping takes 20-30 seconds with a full size pump. (I've never used a mini-pump)
