I too have the CyclOps Aluminium rollers. Rollers are great for intervals, 1minute intervals are very difficult to do on the road with out interuption from traffic lights, cars etc.

I use them for winter training (living in the UK, that is most of the year), but still do at least one interval session a week on them throughout the summer. I don't think they do much for your control, once you've learned to ride them it is pretty simple, they are about as wide as a narrow lane over here, so assuming you ride a bike with a resonable level of competence you will be okay. They just require a bit of confidence and commitment to start off with.

Standing up on the pedals and riding no handed on rollers again are both easy once you just relax and commit.
