A misleading thing about the weight factor of Speedplays is that although the pedals themselves are often significantly lighter than their LOOK or Shimano counterparts (at least for the high-end models), the cleats make up for any weight savings. Essentially, any "benefit" of having light weight pedals is then purely mental. I'd base your purchase on performance and feel - not weight.
