Or, take a look in the Classic & Vintage forum, and see if some of the Bay Area C & V folks can help you out. Many of them flip bikes, and quite possibly could steer you to a great deal.
You might want to just post a question over along the lines of
Looking for good used road bike in Bay Area...(as header)
(body of post) and would like Shimano 105 if possible, 50-52cm frame. (give your price range). I would not be surprised if someone can't help you out, and you'd also get to meet a fellow member
