I checked out all the groups about a month ago. One dealer was pushing the SRAM stuff and was making a really good case. I was all set to go with SRAM until I told him, "I'll be using this on a bike I'll be using for mountain races."
He physically recoiled from that statement. Then he said, "You might not want SRAM, then. Look what happens when you run out of cogs in the back." At that, he showed me that if you try to shift to a lower cog and don't have a lower cog, SRAM UPSHIFTS to the next HIGHER cog! Automatically! It doesn't NOT shift (like Shimano) -- it actually makes things worse for you. Then, the dealer said, "But they might fix that with Red."
Yeah. They might.
Back to Shimano for me.
