dammit, i didn't see alan's post until after i posted. maybe i'll see how it goes with the std/3000. seems like 95% of bikes i saw had an 8" u-lock.

my question about just locking the rear tire is that, if it's so difficult to cut through a wheel, why don't they make locks out of the same thing?!
