The original stainless housings can chafe the paint on your headtube. I'm not going to put them back on my PX10 when I get the frame back from Dr. Deltron. I'm hoping the shifting will feel less vague with SIS housings.
There is a product that is a thick, clear tape to protect your paint from cable rub. I think it's called frame saver. I have it on my Trek and you can't even see it.
