My first club ride

Didnt take long for me to realize I was in for alot of pain. The warmup miles were close to 20mph. I did fine the first 5 miles till we got to the foothills. The rollers started to take there toll on my legs. One rider dropped back just as I was fading from the group. I was able to keep te group in site but my HR was hanging around 186, my max is 196. After a short climb there was a quick regroup. After a short decent we began our long climb, about 6 miles. I rode within myself and was able to hang for about a mile. I realized I would completely crack if I kept that pace. I slowed a bit and got into a rythem. I lost site of the group with about 2 miles to climb. Again I caught and passed one rider. Another regroup at the top. They were discussing routes at this point and the group was splitting. I elected the shorter route as my legs were cooked. I did the previous climb between 178 and 186. 3 of us headed up a few more miles of climbing, then decended back into the valley and back to the start. The ride was just under 50 miles and I feel like I did 100. The climbing was just under 5000ft, ride time was 3:36.

I joined this club to get faster. I can see that will happen.
