Went on a 55 mile ride through beautiful Alexander Valley today with TnT. Around mile 30, my neck starts hurting. Then, my lower back and, finally, my hands started getting numb. After a couple of SAG stops for food and fluids, I start off with no pain but soon the pain returns. The last 10 miles were excruiating. I made it to the end through sheer will plus some conversation with my mentor to keep my mind off it. I was only at 80% HR so I wasn't winded but my body was shutting down.

Did I bonk?
I'd say not so much bonking as perhaps poor bike fit. Numbness in the hands suggests too much weight/pressure on them. As for your neck and back, same thing -- poor fit. The pain stopped at the SAG because you stopped doing what caused the pain.

Take your bike to your LBS and get fitted -- it could be as simple as changing your seat height (or as complicated as, well, changing equipment).

Hope you feel better soon.
