The spring flowers are in full bloom along part of my route. The latest dominant batch are brown eyed Susans (I think). They look like mini sunflowers and grow in large bunches along part of my route. Today as I rode in they reminded me of scenes of the Tour de France. Quickly I was transformed from a commuter into a rider on a lone break away in a stage of the Tour. The 6 lanes of traffic on my left vanished. My backpack was gone. I felt fast and new I was leaving the peleton behind. I rode over the next hill out of the saddle and rocketed down the other side. My Italian steel frame was alive. The sunflowers were a yellow blur of speed.
Slowly the flowers dispersed and the traffic reappeared. I had my back pack on again and stopped at a light. Back to my commute. That was fun. I’m still a kid.
