XT and Race Face Deus are about the same weight, and XT is plenty stiff. I'd only get XTR if you have money to burn and are concerned with weight. I put Deus on my wife's bike because it was cheap and the polished finish looks sweet. As to the question about 175 vs. 170, I'd run whatever is on your road bike. What, no road bike? Run the 175mm...
