Are we talking about "great sportsmen" or "great men"? There is a critical distinction.

Ben Johnson's performance in the 1988 Olympics was that of a "great sportsman" by a certain line of reckoning but by mine Johnson, and other dopers, are not great men or great sportsmen.

For the record, I hope and continue to believe that Lance Armstrong did not dope and I consider him to be a great sportsman.
