don't use BB's. thieves can cut right through them. they make special ball bearings for this purpose. if i remember right, the company is called Ball Protectors (google search). you give them the make and model of your bike and they send you a complete set of high quality ball bearings for each hex hole. costs almost 100$, but a replacement part would cost at least that much so its really worth it. also, i recommend welding the balls in place.
