Now that I've had some sleep... it was an amazing ride.
It was my first century in a long time, and it was definitely faster than advertised. But, on the flip side, I was pretty amazed at how a bunch of "slackers" could egg me on to speeds I didn't know I could hit. That was a good feeling. I also was amazed at how I could take breaks at time spans I didn't know existed. I was in awe of the McGyver-level improvisation with the seat, and more in awe as to how-the-heck Matt could ride those last 40 miles pretty much out of his seat. I also discovered I had a hidden bike messenger gene somewhere around downtown Laguna. I jumped a few curbs and actually hit a mirror with my shoulder and just kept going...
All in all... great day, great people. It was nice meeting everyone, and putting faces to names and all that. Everyone was wonderful and I'll ride with any of you anytime... and if you want to ride with me, hunt me down in/around Griffith Park.
