Huh? At equal pressures, tires of any size will have equal contact patches. Are you saying that, for a given contact patch, the wider tire will be less distorted? I think that's generally true if you're talking about a pressure for which the narrower tire would be considered underinflated, but I don't think it would make much difference at higher pressures.

In any event, the reason for going to a larger tire is generally to run at a lower pressure and/or get more rubber on the ground safely.
