We averaged about 8-9mph on my friend's first 30 mile ride. His first ride longer than 4-5 miles...

What made it sucky is not only was it his first long ride, we ran into head winds and cross winds the last 15 miles!

But oh well... I'm just glad he finally went on a ride with me! We did a little better the next ride, although it was only about 20 miles. But at least he's out riding!

Lest we forget... we all started somewhere! Hopefully he sticks with it and can build up to longer rides and eventaully some nice climbs!
