Last year I broke my collarbone from a crash caused by a broken chain. When my chain broke I was standing on the pedals accellerating up a slight upgrade and had my right right foot at the top of a pedal stroke. With the abrupt loss of the expected pedal resistance, my right foot went down immediately with my body going right from the loss of right side support and my handlebars pivotting left from the extra weight of my right arm, the collarbone breaking when my forearm broke my fall.
