The front and back work the same. Big lever to go to a larger size gear and small lever to go to a smaller size gear. Focus on physical size of the gear, not harder or easier and you will not forget.

If you push both front shifters or both back shifters at the same, you usually don't realize that is what happened, then nothing will happen. Or if you don't push a shifter far enough nothing happens.
