Get a can of FrameSaver or another good rust preventative. I do some shooting (mostly at the roadies, who ride by in lines wearing matching spandex panties and blouses with their noses up each other's butts -- it's much like shooting down the lines of ducks at the old shooting galleries -- and oh so much fun. I got all six in a row last night, and I won a big pile of expensive plastic crap shaped like bicycles) and I use a product made by Birchwood-Casey that is meant as a rust preventative for guns, but works great for bike frames too. Treat your frame occasionally and it should last forever. For that matter, once a little layer of rust/oxidization forms inside the tube, it generally acts as a self-protectant. The rust shouldn't continue to penetrate deeper unless it is disturbed, thereby exposing fresh metal which then begins to oxidize anew.

Steel is real !!
