Bikes: Mongoose Blackcomb... It's crap :D

Upgrading a BlackComb (come on guys, at least look at it!)

I have read many reviews on the mongoose blackcomb that praise the quality of the bike after being set up by a professional. I myself find it to be a fine bike to ride, not as nice as my dad's specialized, but still nice. I think it could use a different back shock, and considering that I will be doing downhill, a double crown downhill fork. Currently looking at a sr suntour mg-dh for the front fork.

I purchased it on sale at Walmart for $75. It was a return, had a flat back tire that they changed. I took it home and had my dad, a former bike shop employee (handy, eh?) set it up for me. Not bad for a bike that normally is $300, huh?

The actual frame is very strong, and feels nice and solid. The disc brakes were good, but I hated the discs so I will be changing them.

My dad has no experience with the trigger shifters, or the odd style of disc brakes on it. I don't know what to do, as I have no manual for it. Anyone have a manual or know how to adjust them? I turned the red knob, but its not enough to get rid of the rub.

Oh, and I am the sort of weekend warrior, and I am not planning on any 15 foot drops or anything like that, so it's no big deal that I have a low end bike.

For those that aren't familiar with the bike, http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4698935
