It works and works pretty well. It isn't the prettiest group nor the lightest, but functionally it isn't too bad. It won't have the smoothness and precision of Ultegra but it will get the chain onto the right cog for you just fine. Only other big downside is the position of the thumb button such that you can't hit it from the drops. That means you have to go up to the hoods to do your shifting. Too bad since if they had positioned it just a half inch or so closer to the bar it would have worked great (like Campy does).
Agreed. I love Campy shifters. People complain about the thumb shifters but they work so well and I never liked the shifting being integrated into the brake lever itself like it is with Shimano. I can shift from the drops quite easily with my Chorus Ergo levers.
