Both are great bikes, the Axis has better components, but I don't know if it's worth the extra $200 overall. I like the Axis components more because they're more versatile. The gearing is well suited for general purpose riding, and the Axis is probably better for commuting and touring. This is preference, but I also like the fact that the axis has a triple front chain ring, so it will climb better.
If you're looking for a racing bike, I'd say go with JTS. If you're for a great all around general purpose road bike, the Axis is better, and probably worth the extra $
