From the study linked above (which is the only one I've seen referenced): "The Dairy and Nutrition Council, Inc, supported this study in part." Chocolate milk is perfectly fine... provides the carbs you need, and even a little protein. I would use it in a pinch. But I'm not a big fan of dairy, and think there are better alternatives.
