I don't know if we discussed this here, or if it was just something I thought about. But according to this cop, ipods are fine. He said you were not allowed to ride with a Zune though (ok, he didn't, but I think that should be the law!

I passed a guy on the way to work this morning who had his headphones in and regardless of the fact that I basically yelled "YOU'VE GOT A FLAT" from a foot away he didn't hear me and looked totally confused.
I used to ride with my iPod all the time - but then during the winter I figured that with the roads being as they were I'd stop because it was unsafe... When the ground thawed I opted to leave the buds out of my ears for good. I'm sure if I were going on a long solo ride I'd pop them in on low volume but for city riding? No thanks...
I think it's insane that a cop can give you a $110 ticket for not having a bell but it's perfectly fine to ride a bike in the city and not be able to hear someone else's.
