I find this book very unhelpful. Tracy is, admittedly, sometimes funny in his dialogue but it's not extraordinarily informative or insightful. For example, why are there no blown-up diagrams of different assemblies with parts labelled? And listed instructions for overhauling or tearing apart assemblies? His literary style--which appears to me as him trying hard to sound informative, constantly humorous, and intellectual--cramps the simplicity that such a manual should strive to acheive.

There are a few good pointers, but a more manual-style guide is far more informative.
