I learned years ago that most guys need to overcome the inclination to buy low end for the gals.
Buy them carp equipment then wonder why they aren't interested in keeping at something?
Specs for buying for one's sig other:
1) You'd use it yourself and feel kinda cool about it.
2) It meets the chick appearance criteria.
My's wife's first road bike was a Fuji Roubaix. Upgraded her to a pink/blue Orbea with Campy Centaur, FSA carbon cranks, and a handbuilt 1600g wheelset.. She loves the bike, and I've been known to rob a bit or two off it in a pinch.
She rides it a lot.
Throw another $150-200 on top of what you're looking at and there's some very decent lightly used stuff out there. Plus if she decides she hates road riding you won't take the hit on resale that you will with a "Zilcho 20000 with Shimago!"
The bike you're looking at is carp.
