Should my legs not burn?

I have only been riding for a couple months, but I am working on getting better at climbing. I have been reading up about different climbing techniques and and wondering a couple things...

1. If my legs are burning, I am mashing too hard, so should I gear down until my legs stop?

2. My legs always hurt, is this a bad thing, or is this normal?

3. After a couple days of hard riding, even little speedbump hills in the road make my legs burn, am i doing something wrong?

I know most of you will say to be a better climb, do more climbing...lose weight...build up your legs, and I am fine with that. I just want to make sure I am not dong something wrong in the meantime.

Thanks.
