This is really a build vs. buy question as well as a request for good online retailers.

I want to get a Time VXRS Ulteam bike with Campy components. I've looked online and found some relatively good deals on the frame from overseas(~$4000) vs. what I'm finding locally ($4600+). I have one local shop in the area that sells Time frames and he's asking around $4800 for the frame.

I'm comfortable buying computer parts cheap and building a machine vs. buying (always saving money) but I'm not at the point where I can put a bike together. It looks like I'd save some $$$ buying the parts for the bike from various sources vs. getting a complete bike from a shop.

a) Thoughts? What do you on the list typically do?
b) As for pricing, I'm finding Campy Record online for around $1600...anyone know where it can be found better? What are good sources for bike gear at outstanding prices you've found?
