They're less likely to change position while you're riding, no waistband cutting into your middle, you don't hang out in back like a plumber under the sink, your junk tends to stay in the same place better. And I'm one of the minority that tends to prefer shorts over bibs after trying both.

Things I don't like so much with bibs: I sweat a lot, and actually like that the waistband on shorts stops the sweat from my upper body from running into my crotch; I tend to run hot, and having an extra layer on part of my upper body isn't conducive to staying cool.

Having said all that, I think I'm going to wear bibs on my morning ride tomorrow.
