REvisited: Converting Steel Roadie to 3/4 speed internal hub commuter
My apologies if this is covered somewhere (the particulars) but all my Googlin' and searching on the forum has not yielded all answers.
I'm scoping out a winter beater/commuter.
I'm really used to the geometry of relaxed road bikes, and I have access to old steel frames.
Internal geared hubs (3/4 speeds) seem like a good option... and i have read some things, but what are the issues in as far as cabling for the hub? Is it pretty straight forward? Are the cable runs on standard 'ten speed' derailleured bikes about what you'd need? There is a source here of old Raleigh 3 speed bike parts... and my thinking is if there is rear wheel, laced to an alloy rim, that I could just see about working that onto the back of a road bike.
I figured there would be a road bike to 3 speed conversion page with pics, etc... but I can't seem to find it.
thanks for any more specific info
Mark
