All I've got to say is Michelin Krylion Carbons. Big on flat resistance and low on rolling resistance. Lasts forever. I plug this tire every chance I get.

If you're looking for a larger tire, I have to agree that the avocet cross is a great choice. I've had those on my commuter for 12 years and they handle just about everything.
