I really love black rims and spokes on a brakeless bike, they look mean and sexy. However, if you put them on a bike with brakes they get that shiny stripe on them and I don't dig that. Worst of all is a bike with only a front brake with black rims, then you get only one wheel with a stripe. Ewwwwwww.
All this assumes that you get rims that are totally black by the way, and not ones with a shiny machined stripe on them in the first place.
I usually don't like to demonstrate how much of a style nerd I am.... but you asked.
Not sure if I am going to put in on a bike with brakes or not, I might put them on my black kuwahara, black seatpost, nitto track bars, black tape... Might be sexy with the black open pros, black spokes, phils. I guess my other orange bike would be fine if it was with just the suzue promax/ma3s....
And I decided my lacing pattern if you are all interested, Radial in front, 3x rear.. My LBS helper Ben explained to me today that expecially with a man of my stature (6'2" 185) radially lacing the rear would not be the smartest idea, especially on a fixed gear.
Off subject I got myself a new chain today, KMC INOX S10 stainless track... Talk about sexy...
