weight gains on tours

I generally ride a supported weeklong bike tour with my brother every summer. The first time we did this, several years ago, I gained 8 pounds even though we rode over 400 miles that week. I was eating everything in sight, afraid that I might bonk riding 60-80 miles/day. Apparently I way overdid it. Since then, I watch what I eat on bike tours and don't gain any weight, but I usually don't lose any either. Of course, if we skipped the trips to the pub after our ride every day I probably would lose some weight, but that would take much of the fun out of the trips.
