I have been lurking on the site for a few weeks and want to get my first road bike. Can't really afford any decent new bikes out there. Came across a used 1995 Trek 1400. Asking $300 but think I can get it for $250. Here are the known details.

1995 Trek 1400 Road bike
~ 700C Tires
~ Strada Seat
~ Shimano Shifters
~ Trip computer
~ Toe Clips
~ Deep Purple color
~ Used very little with no scratches and such
~ One Owner - Guy selling is 5'-11" tall as I am. Will definitely take test ride and check for proper fit before buying. Was measured at a LBS for a new Trek for a 58 cm frame. Seller does not know the frame size.

First, is this bike a good starter bike? Anybody have some riding experience on it? Is $250-$300 a good price? Again, I am just starting out and really would like to give road biking a try. My main goal at this time is to get some exercise. Running is just too hard on my knees. Figure on getting out a few times a week - 30 to 50 miles total.
