It was toasty warm this morning at 7am. 70F/20C. It was way too hot to sleep last night and we don't have air conditioning. Fortunately, our basement was a tolerable temperature and I got some sleep there.
Just a few blocks from home and I'm riding down a street where a new building is being built (the road is open to all traffic) and both sides of the street are lined with the workers' pickups (with toppers) and other big vehicles. I'm riding down the middle of the street so I can be seen (hopefully). I'm about halfway down the block when I see a pickup with a worker who must be late (or he's got the donuts) turn from the perpendicular street onto my street and start traveling in the the same direction I am (away from me). Then he stops. Then he pulls into a driveway. At this point I am nearly right behind him. He is now in the phase two of his three point turn and backs into the street without looking. Were I a car he'd have hit me. He didn't even look. He just figured that when he turned onto the street that because he didn't (couldn't with all of the big trucks parked on the sides of the street) see anything that nobody was there. I was waving like mad and scowled at him to look more carefully next time.
The rest of the ride was uneventful.
