Shredded bolt

Hey guys, I bought a bike probably about 10 months ago. To me, it was a great bike, worth the price, comfortable, that sort of thing. But then I found out months later that whoever assembled it had screwed in one of the pedals on a slight angle and after months of riding and not noticing, it began to loosen, which is what caught my attention. I took my bike home to get a closer look and by that time the pedal was so loose that I could literally flop it up and down. I took the pedal off after a struggle and to my amazement, there were only a few threads left on the pedal, and the part that the pedal screws into is also grinded down bad...

I was wondering if there is any type of tool or adhesive that works for this sort of thing? I wish I could just weld the damn thing on and forget about it, it's not like I'm a professional rider or something, I just use it to go to the store and run small errands, so I really doubt I will ever have a reason to change my pedals..
