Probably a stupid question...but what is the purpose of having carbon rails on a saddle? I'm a little paranoid having a carbon seatpost when a post like a Thomson is about the same weight and probably a whole lot stronger. Thanks!

Same as carbon water bottle holders and carbon DR's and carbon shift levers and carbon shoes and carbon cranks. Did I leave anything out?
