Proof that, at the least, mapmyride's total climb algorithm is garbage:

Today I went for a 20-mile out-and-back ride with a loop at the far end including a short but steep climb then a longer twisting downhill. I wanted to see what the climb looked like, so I mapped it in mapmyride: link. (I don't know how to post a pic of the actual elevation profile graphic.) Note that the total climbing is somehow only 212 feet, despite the big climb in the middle being more than 212 feet by itself. In fact, the max elevation minus the min elevation is 348 feet; how is it possible for that to be greater than the cumulative ascent?

I mapped the same ride in a site my wife brought to my attention, beginningtriathlete.com. BT.com also uses Google Maps as the engine, so presumably it has the same elevation data as mapmyride. The elevation profile ([URL="http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.as
