I rode my last 6000 miles WITH a helmet until last week. I decided, "what's the point?". I never even had a close call in 6000 miles, besides when I switched to clipless for the first time. At this point I'm very confident with myself and my bicycle handling abilities. I don't ride in traffic or do anything crazy, mostly just grinding mile after mile out in the countryside, solo. I'm going to be leaving the helmet behind until my next group ride.
