1. Get a thorough exam.
2. Consult a competent attorney to preserve your rights. S/he will advise you on how to handle any insurance claim(s). You won't have to "hire" him/her - most good attorneys will do an initial no-charge consult. As this is a personal injury case, you probably would be eligible for a contingency deal anyway.
