I'm looking for a road bike for weekend training rides and for fairweather commuting, and a 2004 Marin Portofino has come up for sale locally (CAD$625). It's a steel frame with carbon fibre fork/seat stays, which I think is an interesting combination (link). I was wondering if anybody here has any opinions on this bike (or Marin in general for that matter). The same guy also has a Giant TCR frame (not sure the year - it's aluminum with CF forks in yellow Team Once colours) with Campy Veloce grouppo for sale for slightly more cash (~$CAD875) although it may be more race oriented than I'm looking for.

Any opinions would be appreciated!
