Coming from a motocycling background myself, I figure a helmet is one of the only things on a cycle (motor or bi) that can protect you. I know there are some that think there is no correlation between price and quality, but I would err on the side of quality and fit, irrelevant of price. I wear a Bell Ghisallo - Tour quality, great fit, $60 on Ebay. It also had the highest reviews on roadbikereview.com of helmets with more than 20 reviews.
