Bicycle: The History-- David Herlihy...amazingly thorough history of the bicycle, with really outstanding photos and plates. Awesome book.

The Idea of Decline in Western History-- Arthur Herman...pretty interesting survey of the idea of decline in various Western philosophical movements.

Ulysses-- James Joyce...I try to read it every year, starting on Bloomsday, but I was doing summer classes this year, and got a late start.

I've also been pecking away at Plato's "Apology of Socrates" in the original, but it's slow going. Pretty interesting, though, and neat to see the choices various translators have made interpreting it.
