Prior to the installation of the bike lane, motorists often changed lanes to pass a cyclist even though there was plenty of room to share the lane. After the bike lane installation, motorists no longer felt the need to change lanes or even move over in their lane to give the cyclist more space.
Why is that considered a problem? (No, I'm not being an ass, I often see this argument used against bike lanes.)
