The main advantage of nitrogen in tires is its lower diffusion coefficient thru butyl rubber than either oxygen or carbon dioxide. i.e. tires inflated with nitrogen lose pressure much slower. Have you ever noticed that if you use carbon dioxide to inflate your tires they need reinflating the next day?
