Thanks for the reply, EBB. At the outset I wanted a bike that I could run errands on and leave locked up for around 1-3 hours at a time without its being attractive enough that someone would want to steal it or any of its components. The MW fits that bill very well but damn, it's slow, even with me spinning away on it; I've got SPD pedals/shoes.

What I'm reconsidering is if the PR fits the above description as well- not much more attractive to thieves than the MW- but while being quicker and faster than the MW per a given rider extertion.

Cost isn't too much of a deciding factor. I can buy these bikes at wholesale cost (only for myself, though!). The real deciding factor is what bike I can buy and actually keep for a while.
