you can't really avoid stressing your tailbone when you sit, no matter what the seat shape, so take a couple of weeks off and see how things go after that. maybe better to stay with the old saddle for a while as the rest of your body is used to that position.

It is possible to ride like that, Kloden just did nearly a whole TdF. it just hurts a lot, and there is a small risk of complications, from the bone knitting in a strange position.

I have broken mine twice, once rockclimbing, once in a more major accident where i pulverised my hips too. I would not have wanted to cycle within a month of either accident, not at all. but you won't lose that much condition in that short a time, maybe just the top competitive edge, but not the overall endurance.
