I sent this email last month to a buddy of mine who's a local cop:

On tonights NW ride we had a woman nearly take out one of the guys in
our paceline. He had just pulled up a hill and was drifting back, and
she came up honking like mad and buzzed him, no more than 12" away,
easily at 65-70mph. This was southbound on 241 between 236 and 235,
approximately 3 miles north of Alachua at 7PM. The paceline was single
file with the exception of the one rider drifting back, but he was as
far right as possible and there was no northbound traffic for miles.
The group shouted at her to slow down and she started stopping, then
breaking and turned as if she was going to run down Anthony Musalo (sp),
then she sped off again, but then stopped and turned again as if she was
going to come back and charge us again.
At any rate, we got her license plate and car description (gray Acura,
tag REDACTED), and a really good look at her because of the number of
times she came back/slowed down, etc (she was an african american woman,
probably in her mid-20s, very chubby face). Can we file a police report
on her? Who would we call?
Thanks!
Ken
The end result was a deputy went out to her place, she admitted to everything, and he explained to her about vehicular homicide and the trouble she could be in if we decided to press assault charges. We chose not to press charges, we were just happy that she was paid a visit by the cops and was educated on the laws.
