Yeah 'cause if my head+helmet was smaller it totally would have missed the GROUND
I credit two helmets with saving me a dreadful headache if not a concusion or worse. In both cases my head struck the ground hard enough to cause cracks and crushing of large portions of the foam. The thing about it is: that foam is strong stuff, take a helmet and see how hard you have to smack it with a baseball bat to break/crush the foam; I've done it and I had to swing that bat hard enough that I know for a fact it would have done more than just a brief pain if it had hit my skull.
But in the end it is a free country (or should be anyway) so do what you want.
